Over the last five years, Outlier Ventures has been supporting the development and growth of emerging technologies. To do this we advise and invest in talented teams, and support businesses which create value for an open data economy.

During this period, we have come across leaders within start-ups, decentralised projects, enterprise, government and academia who are driving the next phase of the Web.  

Outlier have developed an industry-leading investment thesis, first published in 2016 based on the convergence of decentralized technologies with other advancing technologies including artificial intelligence, robotics, and the Internet of Things. This creates next generation data technology which will drive the evolution of the next internet paradigm “Web 3.0”

.This year we released a refinement of the thesis: The Convergence Stack viewing our portfolio as a set of interlinked and open-source technologies spanning hardware, software, networking and applications.

 

We have finalised a power list of the Top 100 Leaders of Convergence who are building vital layers of the Convergence Stack and those diffusing a more secure, private, accessible and equitable digital infrastructure.

Top 20 ‘Tech for Good’ are improving the lives of many through technology advancements, solving age old challenges such as city infrastructure and environment, economic equality and human rights.
