Become a Base Camp Mentor!

Contents

You will have the opportunity to work with leading early stage teams around the world and be exposed to tech at the forefront of Web 3. Beyond just the meaningful relationships you will form with the teams and the overall Outlier Ventures network, these have the potential to turn into opportunities for investment, advisory or board positions, consulting work, and more.

In order to provide our teams with the most impactful relationships possible, we need someone highly responsive with time to talk with our founders, experience in mentoring, and ability to provide measured advice and connections.

A note about the word “Mentors” – A mentor is an experienced and trusted advisor. One whose role we see as more of a sounding board and extension of the project’s team and community.

Mentors are engaged in three buckets according to the level of involvement they want to have and the amount of time they are able to dedicate.

  1. Genuine Mentorship – highest level of exposure to the Base Camp cohort – working with teams on a regular basis providing that sounding board around the team’s key goals for the program.
  2. Domain Mentorship – willing and able to contribute their knowledge and expertise for longer workshops or brainstorming sessions with the teams
  3. Office Hours – able to offer 45 minutes to 1 hour time slots to the cohort to work through specific topics throughout the program

Mentors who are the most valuable for our teams are talented people that fall within the following categories:

  1. Domain Experts – knowledge and experience in a particular domain like tokenomics, product, technology, operations, community – and all the functions that make a project tick.
  2. Sector Experts – knowledge and experience in a particular sector like defi, data, fintech, etc.
  3. Connectors –  you know everyone who’s anyone and help make serendipitous connections take people straight from A to C without even stopping at B
  4. Former Founders – If you’ve been there and done that, new and aspiring founders receive a wealth of benefit avoiding the scars you got so they don’t have to.
  5. Investors & Community Representatives – Typically early stage investors are key to helping early stage projects grow providing both capital and value
