Outlier Ventures announced Jocelyn Roberts as Head of Legal, a newly created position focused on supporting the firm as it continues to fund innovation in new decentralised technologies and business models. Jocelyn joins from a private equity platform where she served as Head of Legal after several years in senior structuring roles at HSBC.
Stephan Apel, Managing Partner at Outlier Ventures commented:
“With over 11 years of legal experience in corporate structuring at HSBC and securities law at Cleary Gottlieb, Jocelyn brings extensive cross-border experience in corporate and financial transactions to the team.”
He continued:
“In a rapidly evolving regulatory environment, conflicting advice within and between specialist law firms, and public ambiguity from regulators, having a specialist in-house counsel dedicated to regulation and compliance is a powerful asset to continue Outlier Venture’s current momentum.”
Jocelyn Roberts, Head of Legal at Outlier Ventures added:
“After working in the legal and financial sector for over a decade, it has become increasingly clear that there is extensive scope for innovation through decentralisation, in every industry. This is an area of fast-paced legal and regulatory development and I am looking forward to being part of a team that is shaping the landscape.”
Outlier Ventures is actively working with policymakers and the wider industry to further knowledge sharing on the evolution of decentralised technologies. The company is engaged with the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Blockchain, is a member of The Wall Street Blockchain Alliance and sits on Tech UK’s distributed ledger working group.
